The next season of Supernatural will be its last, the cast announced on Saturday.
The announcement was made by Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins.
Hey #SPNFamily here’s a little message from @JensenAckles @mishacollins and me. I’m so grateful for the family that’s been built because of the show. Excuse me while i go cry. pic.twitter.com/QDXDsAyIfK

Sam and Dean Winchester have died and come back to life so many times that we have lost count. But this will truly be the end of the road for the beloved duo.
The show premiered on September 13, 2005 and since has gained a cult following. It currently ranks as the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television.
“We just wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale. The big, grand finale of an institution,” Ackles said. “I will say this, a little word from Eric Kripke, the creator about this world and these characters, that in a show about family, it is amazing and it is the pride of his life that it became a family. So thank you guys for that.”
The final season, which will run from 2019-2020, will comprise 20 episodes.
