Lahore zoo acquires Bengali tigers from South Africa- Samaa Digital

They have been purchased for Rs10m

The Lahore zoo has acquired a pair of Bengali tigers.

The tigers, aged three years and four years, belong to South Africa. They were purchased for Rs10 million.

The animals are being kept in separate cages for the time being. “We don’t want to disturb them a lot,” said an employee of the zoo. “This is a new environment for them and they have new keepers too,” she added.

Many people visited the Lahore zoo on Sunday just to look at the new tigers.

“The new tigers are very nice,” said a girl who had come to the zoo with her parents.

The zoo now has three male tigers and one female tigeress.

Last year, three tigers had died at the zoo because of a parasitic disease. The frequent deaths had raised questions over the management and its ability to take care of the animals.
