An accountability court extended on Monday the physical remand of former water and power secretary Shahid Rafi and Cannock Global Enterprises Limited Director Laeeq Ahmed Sheikh in the Karkey rental power plant case.
Both accused were handed over to NAB for further investigation. Rafi’s remand has been extended till April 29 and Ahmed’s till May 3.
The accused are allegedly involved in various scams being investigated by the accountability bureau and were also nominated in references filed in the rental power case.
Rafi was arrested on April 19 from his residence in Islamabad and produced before the court the next day where he was remanded to NAB custody till Monday for interrogation.
Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf is also facing charges of corruption in the same case.
